It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
